Getting started
Fertility care can look different for everyone. You might be at the very beginning, just trying to understand your cycle, or you might already be thinking about IUI, IVF or other treatment options. These links are here to help you find the information that feels most relevant right now.
1. Pre-fertility and fertility testing
Fertility testing can include blood tests, cycle tracking, ultrasound, fallopian tube testing and semen analysis. Testing helps us understand ovulation, egg reserve, sperm health, the uterus, the tubes and any other factors that may affect conception.
2. IUI or artificial insemination
Intrauterine insemination, or IUI, places prepared sperm directly into the uterus around ovulation. It may be considered when there are mild sperm concerns, donor sperm is being used, timing sex is difficult, or tests have not found a clear reason for delayed pregnancy.
3. Ovulation induction
Ovulation induction uses medication to help your body release an egg. It may be used on its own, with timed intercourse, or with intrauterine insemination. It is often considered when irregular or absent ovulation is part of the picture.
4. IVF
IVF is a type of fertility treatment where eggs are collected and fertilised with sperm in the lab. If a suitable embryo develops, it may be transferred into the uterus. It may be considered for tubal factors, endometriosis, sperm factors, age-related fertility changes or unexplained infertility.
5. ICSI
ICSI is a lab technique used during IVF. A single sperm is injected directly into an egg. It may be recommended when sperm count, movement or previous fertilisation results suggest the sperm may need extra help.
6. Recurrent miscarriage
For people who have experienced two or more pregnancy losses and want to understand what may be contributing. Testing can help guide future pregnancy care with more information and support.
7. Fertility preservation
Fertility preservation may include egg, sperm or embryo freezing. It may be considered if you are not ready for pregnancy, planning ahead, have concerns about future fertility, or need treatment such as chemotherapy that may affect eggs, sperm, ovaries, testicles, the uterus or hormone function.
8. Genetic testing
Genetic testing may include carrier screening before pregnancy, embryo testing during IVF, or screening in early pregnancy. It can help identify inherited conditions or chromosome changes that may affect fertility, miscarriage risk, pregnancy planning or treatment choices.
